ランは全世界で15,000種以上の種類を持ち、その多くが独特で美しく個性的な花を咲かせる嗜好性の高い植物です。
今回は豊富な種類を持つランの中でも特にユニークな形状をした「パフィオペディルム」を標本にし、特徴的なフォルムと模様を持つ花弁を活かしたレイアウトに仕上げました。

パフィオペディルムという名前はギリシャ語で「女神のスリッパ」を意味し、その花言葉は「美しい淑女」「優雅な装い」です。
カラフルな植物とは一味違う、落ち着いた色の中にも味わい深い美しさがあり、日本では水戸徳川家がコレクションをするなど古くから上流階級の間で親しまれていました。

上品で奥行き深い魅力を持つこちらの標本は、年上の女性など知的で大人な雰囲気を持った品のある女性への贈り物にも最適です。
